L. G. Morgan Esq.
Acting Director of Education Education Department
Eon_Kong.
27th April 1949
in continuation of my short note of acknowledgement of your letter No. E.D. 8101/47 III of 13th April 1949. (1) Anglican School representatives have now had a preliminary
discussion. They were most grateful for the Block Grant proposal in principle.
(2) They believe that clause (i) will be gratefully welcomed by
the School Councils, in principle: but the decision being a financial one, will rest with the Managers of each School.
(3) They are however confident that to present (ii) and (iii) to
the Managers will only create confusion and would be unacceptable both in principle, and because this question has already been settled in London by the Director's agree- ment to withdraw the 50% limit from the Code.
(4) I shall be glad to be assured that (ii) and (iii) have in
fact been inserted in error and that this proposal can be presented to the School Managers without them.
(5)
I am also asked to point out that it was agreed in London to retain the name "Correspondent" in its full significance in the Code, i.e. omitting the words "Who shall be deemed to be the Manager". Please confirm that this is being done.
